The Institut supérieur d'entrepreneurship et de gestion (ISEG) in Senegal has been placed on a “blacklist” of unrecognised private higher education institutions by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI). The decision, made official on October 2nd, 2026, impacts 25 ISEG campuses across the country, representing a significant portion of the 34 total establishments listed. Students and families are now questioning the validity of their qualifications and previously paid tuition fees. The listed campuses are widespread, spanning from Pikine and Guédiawaye in the suburbs of Dakar, to regional locations including Saint-Louis, Ziguinchor, Thiès, and Kédougou, among others. The Ministry’s list specifically identifies institutions lacking state recognition to award degrees from Licence to Doctorate levels. This is particularly concerning as ISEG positioned itself as an accessible option for students unable to attend universities in Dakar or public universities. The core issue now revolves around the recognition of diplomas issued by these unaccredited ISEG branches.
