Two deputy speakers of Senegal’s National Assembly, Ismaïla Diallo and Cheikh Thioro Mbacké, have resigned from their positions, as announced by the Assembly’s Bureau on June 12, 2026. Both officials had served since the beginning of the current legislative term. The Bureau acknowledged their service and commitment to the parliamentary institution. Replacements for the departing vice-presidents will be organized according to the Assembly’s internal rules. In other business, the Bureau deemed receivable a proposed constitutional revision drafted by a group of deputies. This revision incorporates feedback from the Constitutional Council’s decision issued on May 25, 2026, and will be sent to the President for review before continuing through the parliamentary process. The Conference of Presidents also adopted a work schedule for pending matters before the Assembly.
