A Spanish company, AEE Power EPC, has filed a complaint against Senegalese MP Thierno Alassane Sall, alleging defamation and financial crimes. The complaint, filed in Dakar, accuses Sall of spreading false news, public defamation, and fraudulently obtaining and disclosing confidential banking documents. AEE Power EPC claims Sall publicly stated that 37 billion CFA francs allocated for a rural electrification project were transferred to eight countries, assertions the company deems inaccurate and based on illegally obtained documents. The company further alleges Sall referenced ongoing legal proceedings in Spain, potentially violating judicial secrecy. AEE Power EPC emphasizes the Spanish investigation is still in its early stages and the MP’s statements are damaging to their reputation. The dispute stems from Sall’s recent press conference where he made the contested claims regarding the project funds.
