Eight years after a tragic incident that deeply affected public opinion in Senegal, the case of Aïda Mbacké is once again in the spotlight. Aïssatou Mbacké, daughter of Serigne Babacar Mbacké Moukabaro, has been released from the Rufisque Women's Prison and placed under electronic monitoring. This development has sparked numerous reactions, particularly from the family of her late husband, Khadim Ndiaye. Abdoulaye Ndiaye, the victim’s brother, has spoken out to defend his brother’s memory, feeling it has been overshadowed by the tragic circumstances of his death and suspicions of jealousy. He describes Khadim Ndiaye as a pious, generous, and discreet man of faith. The tragedy unfolded on the night of November 3-4, 2018, in Hann Maristes, Dakar, following a violent marital dispute over a suspected second wife, where Aïda Mbacké set their bedroom on fire, resulting in Khadim Ndiaye’s fatal injuries. Mr. Ndiaye appeals for respect for his brother’s memory and restraint in commenting on the case, seeking dignity for those grieving and the preservation of his brother’s image.
