A fatal road accident on the Bambali–Sédhiou axis in Senegal has left a 31-year-old father of four dead and ten others injured, four critically. The incident occurred when a public transport vehicle collided with a motorcycle near the village of Boudiemar. The driver of the vehicle has been detained and admitted to exceeding the speed limit while attempting to avoid a pothole. Investigators report contributing factors may also include rider imprudence and loss of control. The deceased, El Hadj Maro, died instantly at the scene of the impact. The injured have been transported to a health center in Sédhiou, where medical staff are working to treat their injuries; the condition of four remains life-threatening. The driver has been formally charged and will face legal proceedings.
