Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has removed Ndiaga Soumaré from his position as head of Customs Investigations. Soumaré has been replaced by Abdourahmane Ba, formerly a Finance Inspector. Ba’s new role places him in charge of combating customs fraud and illicit financial flows, a strategically important position for state revenue. Soumaré had previously stated his intention to review cases handled in the year before his appointment, signaling a focus on transparency. The change is part of an administrative reshuffling by President Faye. Ba inherits a key service crucial for the nation’s tax income.
