A recent cabinet reshuffle in Senegal saw Badara Pouye, a former Pastef official, appointed head of the Maison de la Presse. This nomination followed a Facebook post where Pouye announced he had named his son “Bassirou Diomaye Faye,” expressing gratitude towards the President of Senegal. The timing of the post, circulated during nomination consultations, has drawn attention. Pouye’s political journey includes previous affiliations with Benno Bokk Yakaar and later collaboration with Ousmane Sonko’s Pastef party. He had, however, suspended his Pastef activities in May 2025, citing disagreements with internal practices and decisions. Pouye stated he no longer aligned with certain party attitudes and emphasized the importance of upholding principles in politics. His appointment marks a notable shift within the governing coalition in Senegal.
