Police in Tivaouane-Peulh, Senegal, have arrested a 35-year-old man, P. Mbaye, following allegations of sexual assault against a seven-year-old girl. The girl’s mother filed a complaint on August 18, 2026, stating her daughter was accosted while on her way to religious school. Witnesses reported hearing the girl’s cries and witnessed the suspect inappropriately touching her. Mbaye, who is a double amputee, was apprehended on August 19th near a local field. During questioning, he admitted to lying on top of the child but denied sexual penetration, claiming he was “just playing” with her—a claim authorities dismiss. The investigation is ongoing, and Mbaye remains in custody facing serious charges.
