A couple in Grand-Yoff, Senegal, was arrested for allegedly defrauding a restaurant out of 86,000 FCFA (approximately $140 USD) worth of food ordered for their son’s second birthday party. Police were alerted after a delivery driver reported being given no payment upon delivery of a large catering order on June 22, 2026. Investigations revealed the wife allegedly planned to receive the food without paying, and the husband admitted to accepting a portion of the order knowing it would go unpaid. Both individuals were taken into police custody while the party was ongoing. The wife confessed to the scheme, citing financial difficulties, while the husband denied initial involvement but acknowledged receiving the food. They are now facing charges of fraud, food theft, and complicity, and will be presented to the prosecutor for further proceedings.
