The Sarajevo Film Festival will award a Special Award for Promoting Gender Equality to a first-time filmmaker. Fourteen debut films are in contention for the prize, which recognizes strong authorial voice and contributions to gender balance in cinema. Four of the nominated films are part of the festival’s main Competition Programme – Narrative Feature Film. The award aims to highlight emerging talent actively working to improve representation within the film industry. This unique award underscores the festival’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting new voices. The winning filmmaker will be selected by a jury and announced during the festival.
