Ahead of the 2026 school year, 32 primary schools across Béja, Jendouba, Kasserine, Gafsa, and Tataouine in Tunisia have undergone significant renovations to improve safety and accessibility. The project focused on redesigning the areas surrounding the schools, benefitting approximately 7,200 students. Improvements include the installation of fencing, secure entrances, and waiting shelters for parents. New features also incorporate sidewalks, LED lighting, green spaces, and pathways ensuring accessibility regardless of weather conditions. This initiative represents a key component of integrated local development efforts within the country. The upgrades aim to provide a more welcoming and secure environment for students as they return to school.
