Saab successfully completed the maiden flight of the Gripen F fighter jet on Friday. The two-seater variant of the Gripen E took off from Saab’s airfield in Linköping at 09:40 local time. The flight lasted for 40 minutes, marking a significant milestone in the development program. This initial flight focused on evaluating the aircraft’s basic handling and performance characteristics. The Gripen F is designed to offer advanced training and operational capabilities. Saab anticipates further testing and development as it progresses towards full operational readiness for the Swedish Air Force. This new variant expands the capabilities of the Gripen family.
