Russia has again been ranked the least peaceful country globally, securing the 163rd and final position in the Global Peace Index for the second consecutive year. Iceland continues to hold the top spot as the world’s most peaceful nation. Poland experienced a significant improvement in its ranking, climbing 23 places to reach 22nd position this year. The Global Peace Index considers 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators to assess levels of peace in 163 independent states and territories. Factors assessed include ongoing conflict, societal safety and security, and militarization. This year’s results highlight a widening gap between the most and least peaceful countries, with global peace declining overall. The index serves as a key resource for governments and organizations working to promote peace and stability worldwide.
