Recent reports indicate Russia has established a new air defense zone within the Moskvoretškin nature reserve west of Moscow. Satellite imagery analyzed by independent sources reveals the clearing of a substantial area – approximately 290 by 150 meters – and the construction of concrete platforms. These platforms are believed to be intended for S-300 or S-400 surface-to-air missile systems. The deployment occurred on June 22, 2026, marking the 1580th day of the war in Ukraine. Residential areas are located approximately 800 meters from the newly constructed defense site. This move signals a potential escalation of defensive measures in the Moscow region amid the ongoing conflict. Radio Svoboda first reported the development.
