Romanian state railway company CFR SA has signed contracts worth over 957 million lei (approximately €193 million) to modernize railway signaling across the Cluj and Timișoara regional railway networks. The projects will focus on upgrading signaling systems along various railway sections. A significant portion, 822 million lei, will be allocated to railway sectors within the Cluj region. Additionally, the modernization includes the implementation of electronic centralization in six railway stations located in Cluj. These upgrades aim to improve safety, efficiency, and capacity on key railway lines. The investment demonstrates CFR’s commitment to modernizing Romania’s railway infrastructure and integrating it with European standards. The modernization works are set to span hundreds of kilometers of track.
