The Romanian United Aureus Party (AUR) is demanding early parliamentary elections, arguing that any government formed now will only prolong the existing political crisis. Senatorial leader Petrișor Peiu stated this position on Sunday, asserting that AUR, currently leading in opinion polls, should pursue its own political agenda rather than align with other parties. The call for early elections comes amid ongoing tensions between the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Save Romania Union (USR), and the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR). AUR believes fresh elections are the only solution to the current instability. The party’s stance underscores its confidence in gaining power and its dissatisfaction with the current political maneuvering. This demand adds further complexity to Romania’s already fractured political landscape.
