The Romanian Social Democratic Party (PSD) has proposed legislation to address rising fuel costs. Former Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan announced the plan, which includes reducing Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuels from 21% to 19%. The proposal also suggests lowering excise duties on standard diesel and capping commercial margins throughout the supply chain. Additionally, the initiative aims to regulate fuel exports. The PSD hopes these measures will offer relief to consumers facing high prices at the pump. The bill has been submitted to Parliament for consideration, marking a renewed effort to tackle the issue of fuel affordability in Romania.
