The European Commission has agreed to revised, lower targets for Romania to ensure the country doesn’t lose access to substantial EU funding. Romanian interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced the agreement, stating it preserves €13.6 billion in grant money. The compromise, reached in Brussels, concerns the absorption of funds allocated through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The adjustment of targets was necessary to facilitate the successful implementation and completion of projects funded by the PNRR. This agreement avoids potential financial penalties and ensures Romania can utilize the allocated funds effectively. The revised plan allows Romania to continue benefiting from crucial European investment.
