Romanian President Nicușor Dan convened a meeting with government members and experts to define Romania’s position for upcoming negotiations regarding the European Union budget for the 2028-2034 period. Bucharest intends to advocate for the continued allocation of funds to agriculture and cohesion policies. Crucially, Romania will also push for dedicated funding toward the defense of the Eastern Flank and the Black Sea region. These priorities will be presented during the European Council meeting scheduled for October 15-16. The discussions aim to secure financial support for key Romanian interests within the broader EU framework. The government is preparing to robustly defend its position during the negotiations. This marks a proactive step by Romania in shaping the future EU budget.
