The Romanian government has approved the distribution of €16.6 billion in funds received through the SAFE program, designed to bolster the European defense industry. The majority of the funding, approximately €9.7 billion, will be allocated to the Ministry of National Defence (MApN). The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) will receive over €2.1 billion, while the Ministry of Transport will be granted €4.2 billion. Intelligence agencies, including SRI, STS, SIE, and SPP, will collectively receive over €650 million. Additionally, the National Administration of Penitentiaries will receive €33.2 million to implement projects outlined in the European defense investment plan. These funds aim to strengthen Romania’s defense capabilities and contribute to the broader European security landscape.
