Dutch regional bus and train services will face significant disruptions on October 22nd due to a second week of strikes by employees in the streekvervoer (regional transport). Approximately 13,500 workers are participating in the industrial action, demanding improvements to their collective labor agreement (cao). Key demands include wage increases, improved work-life balance through more predictable work schedules, and better conditions for older employees, particularly regarding scheduling input and retaining allowances for unfavorable hours. Union representative Marijn van der Gaag of FNV Streekvervoer states that employers are not adequately addressing their concerns. Negotiations between employers and employees remain stalled, leading to continued disruption for passengers. However, national train services and public transport in major cities across the Netherlands are expected to operate as usual.
