A family from Hradec Králové is raising awareness about ATR-X syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting their four-year-old son, Patrik. The condition causes sudden and dramatic mood swings, resulting in outbursts of anger where Patrik yells, throws objects, hits furniture, and sometimes harms others. His mother emphasizes that these behaviors are not intentional but are a direct result of the disease, requiring constant supervision. The family’s story is gaining attention in both the Czech Republic and abroad, amplified by the “Donio” platform and “Lůca na cestách,” an ambassador traveling to Italy for fundraising. The campaign aims to provide support and understanding for families facing similar challenges with ATR-X syndrome and other rare diseases. Increased awareness hopes to help families navigate the difficulties associated with this little-known condition.
