Latvia will not shorten the primary route of the first phase of the Rail Baltica project, a large-scale railway infrastructure undertaking. However, the Latvian government intends to comprehensively reassess the scope of the railway construction considering affordability. This review aims to determine what level of railway infrastructure Latvia can realistically finance. Latvian Radio and Latvian Television reported this development, indicating a shift towards cost-conscious planning. The government seeks significant savings without, for now, altering the route itself. This signals a potential adjustment in project specifications to manage budgetary constraints. The evaluation will likely impact the overall design and features of the Latvian segment of Rail Baltica.
