Heavy monsoon rains across Punjab, Pakistan, have resulted in at least three confirmed deaths and three injuries from rain-related incidents. The torrential downpours, predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, caused widespread urban flooding and traffic disruptions in cities like Lahore. Collapsed houses in Bahawalpur and drowning incidents in Khushab contributed to the fatalities. While nine additional deaths were reported, authorities clarified these were unrelated to the rainfall, stemming from drowning in canals and rivers and, tragically, suffocation in a car. Provincial authorities are on high alert, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally monitoring the situation and directing emergency services to prepare for continued rainfall expected through August 5th. Emergency Operation Centres are operating around the clock to manage the ongoing crisis.
