A former freight yard in Prague’s Smíchov district is undergoing a massive transformation into a new residential and commercial area, currently the largest construction site in the Czech Republic. The 20-hectare brownfield project promises to house and employ thousands of residents. Simultaneously, the adjacent passenger train station is being rebuilt into a modern transportation hub connecting various modes of travel. However, this reconstruction is taking place while the station remains operational, causing disruptions for commuters with limited platform access. The entire project, encompassing both the new district and the modernized train station, is expected to be completed in six years. This large-scale development signifies significant urban renewal for the city of Prague.
