Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki has revoked the Order of the White Eagle, the nation’s highest distinction, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This action follows Zelenskyy’s decision to return the honor. The move raises questions about whether Prime Minister Donald Tusk should countersign the document, given the circumstances. Reports suggest the revocation is linked to a dispute over Ukraine naming a military unit after controversial figures from the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). There are also unconfirmed reports of a planned meeting between the Polish and Ukrainian presidents to address the issue, which ultimately did not take place. Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the Polish President’s Chancellery, is scheduled to discuss the matter in an interview with RMF FM radio.
