A 24-year-old Polish man, alleged leader of a fraud network known as the “Grandson Scam” or “Mafia of Grandchildren,” was arrested in Barcelona, Spain on June 11th. The suspect is accused of orchestrating a scheme targeting elderly individuals through the “grandson” method, where victims are convinced to send money to a supposed relative in urgent need. Polish authorities in the Małopolska Voivodeship report the man played a central role in the criminal network. Following his arrest, authorities seized his €230,000 Ferrari. Investigators state the suspect employed a tactic known as the “legend method” to build trust with victims. The arrest represents a significant development in efforts to dismantle the transnational fraud operation. Further investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network.
