North Chungcheong Province police in Danyang have concluded a concentrated crackdown on illegal poppy cultivation, resulting in the apprehension of eleven residents. The operation, which began in March, uncovered 418 poppy plants being illegally grown. One individual has been formally arrested, while the remaining ten face charges related to the illicit cultivation. Authorities initiated the focused enforcement effort to combat the unauthorized farming of opium poppies. The seized plants and those involved are now subject to legal proceedings. This action underscores the police’s commitment to enforcing laws regarding controlled substances and preventing illegal drug production within the region.
