Poland has decided against transferring its MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in exchange for drone technology, as originally proposed. According to reports from Wirtualna Polska, the agreement ultimately failed to materialize. Consequently, the Polish Ministry of National Defense (MON) will now begin a phased withdrawal of the MiG-29s from service. The aircraft will be systematically decommissioned rather than delivered to Ukraine. This decision marks a shift in Poland’s initial plans to provide military aid through the exchange of equipment. The failure of the deal suggests complications in negotiating technology transfers alongside hardware provisions. The future of the Polish air force will now proceed without the planned offset from Ukrainian drone technology.
