Poland has stripped Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle, the nation’s highest distinction. The decision was made by Karol Nawrocki, head of the Chancellery of the President, and follows a period of escalating diplomatic friction between the two countries. Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau in the President’s office, stated the revocation ended a “game of stalling” regarding the order. Zelenskyy announced on Friday he had “returned” the decoration to Poland, indicating a prior communication regarding its status. The move underscores growing disagreements, reportedly centered on agricultural imports and historical issues, straining the alliance between Warsaw and Kyiv. This action represents a significant escalation in the ongoing dispute and signals a cooling in relations.
