Nasfund, MiBank, and New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL) have launched a collaborative project to improve financial services for oil palm growers in Papua New Guinea. The initiative utilizes Starlink technology to establish mobile branches and deliver the Eda Supa account, expanding access to banking and superannuation options. This rollout aims to promote long-term savings and financial inclusion amongst smallholder farmers. The partnership seeks to address the challenges of remote locations and limited infrastructure impacting financial accessibility. By bringing services directly to growers, the program hopes to empower them economically. This is a significant step toward broadening superannuation coverage in the agricultural sector. The venture’s success depends on reliable Starlink connectivity within oil palm growing regions.
