A corporate golf tournament in Lae, Papua New Guinea, raised K87,000 (approximately $25,000 USD) for Team PNG. The event, the Lae leg of the 2026 Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge, featured 30 teams competing in a four-person Ambrose format. Funds generated through registration and hole-in-one fees will directly support Team PNG’s participation in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal. The annual tournament, established in 1998, has become a key fundraising event for the national Olympic committee. Prime Minister James Marape and the Office of the Prime Minister provided support, continuing a tradition of government backing for Papua New Guinean athletes. This year’s event builds on over 27 years of corporate sponsorship and national leadership support for Team PNG.
