Turkey plans to hold its inaugural offshore wind Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) tender in the first quarter of 2027. This announcement was made by Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar. The tender will specifically target four strategic areas within the Aegean Sea. These locations include regions near Saros Bay, Edremit, and the islands of Gökçeada and Bozcaada. This move is part of a broader national strategy to expand green energy infrastructure. The Turkish government has set an ambitious target to reach 5 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2035. This initiative marks a significant step in Turkey's transition toward sustainable energy sources.
