The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) activated a Coast Guard Auxiliary District within the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) on Wednesday, strengthening its capabilities in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). This activation is intended to complement the existing Coast Guard presence already established in the KIG. The move aims to improve the PCG’s ability to respond to incidents and maintain maritime safety in the region. By bolstering its presence, the PCG seeks to ensure faster response times to any developing situations. This development underscores the Philippines' commitment to safeguarding its interests within the WPS, specifically around the Kalayaan Island Group. The Auxiliary District will work in conjunction with existing units to patrol and protect the area.
