Since July 1, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has been enforcing a Community Service Order (CSO) for individuals caught littering. To date, nine individuals in GEORGE TOWN, Penang have received notices under this new order. The CSO aims to deter littering through community service as a form of punishment. This initiative marks a shift towards more impactful consequences for those who disregard public cleanliness on Penang Island. The MBPP hopes that this will encourage greater civic responsibility and a cleaner environment for all residents and visitors to GEORGE TOWN. Further enforcement is expected as the council continues to prioritize environmental preservation within Penang. Notices were issued to offenders in GEORGE TOWN.
