The Pasteur Institute of Tunis, in collaboration with the Pasteur Institute of Algeria, recently co-hosted a practical training session focused on concentrating enteric viruses in wastewater. This initiative falls under the EnSurPoV project, coordinated by Dr. Sondes, aimed at strengthening environmental surveillance of polio and other enteric viruses across North African countries. The training equips participants with essential techniques for virus detection in wastewater samples. This surveillance is a crucial component of public health efforts, allowing for early detection and response to potential outbreaks. By monitoring wastewater, researchers can gain insights into the prevalence of viruses within communities. The partnership between the two Institutes signifies a commitment to regional collaboration in disease monitoring and control. This enhanced capacity will contribute to improved public health security in North Africa.
