The Papua New Guinean government has allocated K10 million to upgrade the 28-kilometer road between Kusaun and Urimo in the East Sepik Province. International Trade and Investment Minister Richard Maru announced the funding as the first step in developing the Sepik Plains into a major agricultural special economic zone (SEZ). This project signifies the Marape-Rosso government’s commitment to boosting agricultural production in the region. The road upgrade aims to improve access and facilitate economic activity within the planned SEZ. The initiative is intended to position the Sepik Plains as the country’s largest agricultural hub. Details of the project were announced during an official launch event. Access to further information requires a subscription to the Post Courier.
