Panama’s comptroller general announced that further audit materials related to the criminal investigation of CK Hutchison’s annulled Panama Canal ports concession will be sent to prosecutors next week. The investigation focuses on former executives of CK Hutchison’s local subsidiary, Panama Ports Company (PPC). PPC operates the Balboa and Cristobal terminals, situated at both ends of the Panama Canal. Comptroller General Anel Flores revealed this information during a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington. Prosecutors specifically requested documents concerning the operations of Panama Ports Company. This development signals a deepening scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding the concession's cancellation and potential wrongdoing by those involved. The audit aims to uncover details related to the Hong Kong conglomerate's previous operational control of key Panamanian ports.
