A member of the National Assembly (NA) from the PTI party, Muhammad Iqbal Khan Afridi, has been suspended for the duration of the upcoming budget session following accusations of misconduct. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq cited repeated violations of parliamentary decorum and abuse towards NA staff, including the director general of media and security officials. Allegations include abusive language, threats, and a physical altercation with police near a hotel. The suspension was approved by a majority vote in the NA following a motion by a PML-N legislator. Afridi is barred from entering Parliament House during the budget session, where Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is scheduled to present the FY26-27 federal budget on Friday. The Speaker stated that no leniency could be shown for behavior undermining parliamentary traditions and misusing office. These incidents reportedly occurred on April 3rd and May 13th, 2026.
