The Pakistani government has adjusted fuel prices, increasing petrol by Rs0.45 per litre to Rs325.43 and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.16 per litre to Rs383.95, effective August 14th. Significant taxes and duties remain, with Rs114 per litre levied on petrol and Rs100 on diesel. The HSD price has decreased from a peak of Rs520.35 in April, linked to earlier rises following the US-Iran conflict. These changes come after a shift to daily fuel price adjustments due to international market volatility stemming from ongoing tensions. Previously, prices were adjusted weekly, alongside fuel conservation measures. The government previously implemented subsidised fuel schemes as relief, with Ogra now responsible for daily price decisions based on market trends.
