Pakistan’s government has increased petrol prices by Rs4.40 and diesel by Rs3.62 per litre, effective Friday, July 24th. The price adjustments reflect the impact of volatile global oil markets influenced by escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf. Petrol now costs Rs331.52 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs378.66 per litre, with significant taxes and duties—Rs110 on petrol and Rs96 on diesel—included in the final cost. While prices have risen recently, diesel is down from a peak of Rs520.35 in April. The government is shifting to daily fuel price adjustments to respond to rapid international market fluctuations. This change follows weekly revisions implemented since early March as a result of the conflict in the Middle East, and previous targeted relief measures offered to consumers.
