Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov convened in Bishkek to discuss bolstering economic ties, aiming to increase bilateral trade to $200 million. Currently valued at $16 million, both leaders acknowledged the gap between current trade volume and the strength of their relationship. They agreed to develop a comprehensive plan encompassing improved trade mechanisms, joint investments, and increased business-to-business interactions to achieve this goal. The countries signed multiple memoranda of understanding, including a significant agreement on transit trade to enhance regional connectivity and logistics. PM Sharif emphasized connectivity as crucial for broader economic integration between South and Central Asia. Both nations reaffirmed commitment to the quadrilateral agreement on traffic and transit, signalling a willingness to streamline trade processes.
