Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on the signing of a new peace agreement, formalized through the ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.’ The deal, reached after a 14-point agreement, aims to end ongoing conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with a 60-day timeline established for continued negotiations. Sharif expressed confidence the agreement would significantly contribute to rebuilding Iran and strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan. He affirmed Pakistan’s ongoing support for Iran throughout the negotiation process and in future endeavors. President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan, specifically recognizing the roles of Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir in successfully mediating the agreement. The Iranian president also conveyed gratitude for Pakistan’s support during challenging times and extended well wishes to the Pakistani people.
