Pakistan strongly condemned recent Houthi attacks targeting civilian and economic infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its support for the kingdom’s security and its right to self-defence. Speaking at a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) debate, Pakistan’s acting Permanent Representative, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, demanded an immediate end to these attacks. Islamabad also reiterated its support for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Yemen and backed the UN special envoy's efforts to resume dialogue for a lasting peace. The escalation follows the collapse of a UN-brokered truce in July, intensifying the war that has triggered a severe humanitarian crisis in Yemen, leaving a majority of the population reliant on aid. Pakistan also voiced concerns regarding violence in the West Bank, calling for an end to settler violence, demolitions, and attempts to annex occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem. The conflict, originating with the Houthis’ seizure of Sanaa in 2015 and the subsequent Saudi-led coalition intervention, continues to destabilize the Middle East and disrupt global energy markets.
