Margaret Kerry, the model and inspiration for Disney’s Tinker Bell, has died at the age of 97 from lung cancer. In 1953, the then 24-year-old Kerry was selected by Disney animators to serve as the live-action reference for the character in the film *Peter Pan*. Over nine months, her movements, reactions, and gestures were filmed and meticulously hand-drawn by animator Marc Davis to create the iconic fairy. Kerry’s background as a dancer heavily influenced Tinker Bell’s graceful demeanor. Though initially a supporting character, Tinker Bell’s popularity grew, leading to six dedicated films. Kerry continued to embrace her connection to the character throughout her life, naming her company “Tinker Bell Talks” and authoring an autobiography about her experiences.
