Hungary’s Minister of Transport and Investment, Dávid Vitézy, has revoked a 1.2 billion forint (approximately 83 million Czech crowns) contract. The contract was originally awarded to companies linked to István Tiborcz, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. This decision follows a review initiated by the new minister. Tiborcz, aged 39, currently ranks as the 13th wealthiest individual in Hungary, with an estimated net worth of 193.9 billion forints (over 13 billion Czech crowns). The cancelled contract represents a significant business loss for Tiborcz’s holdings. The move signals a potential shift in government contracting practices under the new administration. No specific reasons for the cancellation were immediately provided beyond the ministerial intervention.
