Online gambling is rapidly expanding throughout Bangladesh, reaching from the capital to rural villages. Law enforcement agencies are consistently arresting agents and seizing mobile financial service (MFS) numbers linked to the illegal activity. However, cyber experts argue that arresting agents alone won't solve the problem. They identify the online gambling websites and apps as the core of the network, emphasizing that closing these platforms is crucial. Despite ongoing raids, the fundamental issue of accessibility to these platforms remains. Authorities face challenges in fully disrupting this expanding criminal enterprise, suggesting a need for more comprehensive strategies beyond agent apprehension. The continued proliferation indicates a potentially widespread and deeply rooted problem.
