The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in Oman will begin charging fees for electric vehicle (EV) charging services starting October 1st. This decision was made in collaboration with the Authority for Public Services Regulation and the Oman Net Zero Centre. The move aims to develop a sustainable and regulated EV charging infrastructure throughout Oman. Details regarding specific fee structures have not yet been released, but the Ministry indicated the charges will facilitate continued investment in and expansion of charging stations. This initiative supports Oman’s broader goals for decarbonization and the adoption of electric mobility. The implementation of fees is expected to encourage efficient use of the growing charging network available to EV owners in Muscat and surrounding areas.
