The Czech Ministry of Health reported a 40% increase in students pursuing general nursing degrees following the launch of a support program last year. Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch announced the positive trend at a press conference Tuesday, also noting a 30% rise in enrollment for other non-physician healthcare professions. The 12-year program is slated to cost 12.8 billion Czech crowns and aims to bolster the healthcare workforce. Projections include over 15,000 nursing graduates, alongside 3,500 paramedics, 1,700 radiological technicians, and 1,200 nutritional therapists. This initiative addresses critical staffing shortages within the Czech healthcare system. The government hopes the increased number of healthcare professionals will improve patient care throughout the country.
