A planned strike involving 741 Norwegian furniture factory workers has been avoided after employers and the union reached a new collective bargaining agreement early Saturday morning. Negotiations, mediated by Anne Cathrine Frøstrup, successfully concluded before the strike deadline. The agreement covers 1,125 union members across approximately 48 companies. Both Styrke, representing the workers, and Norsk Industri, representing the employers, are recommending the settlement. Had an agreement not been reached, the strike would have significantly impacted furniture production in Norway. The deal follows intensive mediation efforts to resolve outstanding issues between the two sides. Further details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
